The more you spend time with someone, the less you see just the good and the more you see the flaws and mistakes. Or, for some, the more you see your assumptions of them were wrong… This is in part why a lot of us tend to hate ourselves, because we cant get away from ourselves and pick ourselves apart piece for piece.

But the truth is, we’re all a mess in some way. No one can be perfect all the time for you. Now, because fear is often a tool humanity uses as a protection mechanism, prejudice is born. For example, if the first 3 musicians you met proved to be lazy, suddenly it seems all musicians are. It’s sort of a weird psychological issue that causes division of all kinds.

We were made for relationship, so these issues tend to cascade and ripple into more issues… Rather than protecting ourselves, it’s easier to hurt ourselves.  Unlike God, we cling to the issues we have with one another as historical facts and live in fear of repeating history…

As a result, we miss the chance to experience true love… The kind of love that knows your heart, and without a doubt, there is hope for reconciliation. Sometimes love dictates that your time in someone’s life was brief… Other times for years… And maybe for life on Earth. But if you can go to sleep at night peaceful that there is no bad blood in your veins filled with anger, hate, or resentment, that’s a human success.

This is what Jesus teaches… What someone did yesterday does not define who they are tomorrow… What habits we carry, are not a direct hit on our identity. How your heart has been damaged is more often the true cause. So, if your identity is rooted in Jesus..  then there is freedom in change.
