“If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. — Matthew 10:37-39 NLT

This isn’t some narcissistic statement… This isn’t a denial of freedom…

I watch this show where the characters have seemed to constantly go against God’s plan for them simply because they don’t want the plan to be God’s… They want to have their own plan… They want to go their own way… But they’re constantly unhappy, fighting against the grain of things…

I always think… If only they knew the God I knew… The God who loves so much the plan itself is perfect… Because the creator of you knows the best for you… Because that creator gives us freewill and we don’t see the same whole, big picture He sees… So, in ignorance, or even selfishness, we make poor choices that often hurt ourselves or others…

But it’s like those puzzle pieces that just fit perfectly together in a specific order… Or those baby toys where you put the shapes in the same shaped hole… You don’t stuff the square in a circle… You don’t push the puzzle pieces together whether they fit or not and hope for the same glorious picture…

If you’re making decisions ignorantly, codependently, feeling guilty, or out of fear… If you’re pridefully believing you already have all the answers… If you start acting like you just know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this square is a circle… It won’t make you right. It won’t mean you’ll get what you want. It won’t make anything secure…

But if you’re making decisions based on the Creator’s truth… if you’re seeking Him… Trusting Him… Believing in Him… If you’re whole heart actually sees, trusts, and believes Him… Then your decisions will be based on wisdom and love…

And even if you’re disregarded, put down, or not received… You’ll be more secure in HIM than you would be on your own… You’ll be right more times than wrong (because humans still make mistakes sometimes)… You’ll find yourself immersed in a peace that doesn’t make sense to everyone else… You’ll find freedom in who you were created to be… And even though there will STILL be trials, pain, sorrow…

You’ll find yourself more alive than once before…

I lost myself trying to do things on my own, my way… But today, I’ve found life. So, I keep pushing. I keep trusting. I keep seeking. And I find it is SO much better His way. ❤️🙏
