God is happily willing to chase after, you, as the 1 out of 99… He sees you, the individual… And will do amazing things JUST FOR YOU.

With that being said, if we, as the church, are more concerned with efficiency in church and ministry… if we think there is more value in doing for the masses, how does that go after the 1 out of 99?

I was just thinking… Let’s say a song comes out of me… I put all of this energy into performing this song, expecting the masses to come and be blessed…

100 people came and 99 of them who already love and worship God are upset the song doesn’t speak on their level… The 99 now decide I’m not worth their time… But that song was meant for ONE… That song spoke to the depths of their one soul, brought them to God, and changed their eternity… ONE song for the ONE soul…

Would not all of heaven rejoice?

But it seems the common response from our human understanding is that it wouldn’t be enough. It’s not worth the time and the energy. It didn’t fit within the confines of our expectations. These expectations that it makes everybody, or at least the majority, happy; maybe the “same mind and same spirit” means everyone encounters the grace of God… Maybe it’s only truly valuable if we have excitedly done something to stir the hearts of thousands. It’s not worth moving mountains for that ONE response…

And yet, God, on the other hand, will leave the 99 for the 1.

Is one soul worth $10, $100, $1000? Who decides, when time is so valuable, how many souls an hours time is worth?

I don’t want to do things for statistics and strategies to increase numbers… It’s not about me or my understanding… If I’m leading worship and a congregation of people are unhappy with one of the songs God placed on my heart but THAT ONE SONG changed someone’s whole eternity because of my obedience? I am happy to make the 99 unhappy for that 1.

And I believe, wholeheartedly, that when your spirit is happy for the 1, those moments where we see a multitude of blessings will come naturally through God’s guidance… Jesus went specifically to the one woman at the well, sought out the 12 disciples, and yet also did miracles before thousands. But His goal was not for efficiency or stats… It was a heart by heart basis and an obedience to the Father.

I can’t be the only one who knows that everyone who walks into a church service doesn’t walk in because they already know Jesus… Perhaps the question is in a congregation of 100, are the 99 standing on solid ground well enough to stand aside and allow the 1 to be saved and served? Will those 99 trust both God and their leader enough? Will they lay down their own opinions, feelings, and lives for that 1? Or will they be bitter and resentful like the brother of the prodigal son? How are we training up the church?

Food for thought 💭🤔
