Where is your heart? I ask myself this all the time.

Do you know how many times I have faced my own conviction, grown, and healed by this simple inward thinking? How many times God has shown me that this is a ME problem and not a THEM problem? Sometimes, I care way too much about everyone else when I need to be caring about the status of MY heart and MY faith.

….

I’m frustrated because this person is needy and can’t man-up and figure it out themselves… Why? Where is MY heart?

I’m frustrated because someone isn’t taking worship seriously and whispering and laughing instead of closing their eyes and focusing on God. Why? Where is MY heart?

It bothers me that I can’t do what I want to do. Why? Where is MY heart?

A person posts constantly about what they’re doing for God and I’m judging them, calling them boastful. Why? Where is MY heart?

No one likes a post I’ve poured my heart into. Why? Where is MY heart?

In a video of me singing 50 people “♥️” it and 1 person “😂” and now I’m discouraged. Why? Where is MY heart?

People are listening to hearsay, making assumptions, and judging and it angers me. Why? Where is MY heart?

I’m sad because I’m not acknowledged for more than singing. Why? Where is MY heart?

I know who someone was yesterday, for years, or have seen them act like wolves in sheep’s clothing… The resentment tells me they will never change. I can’t even spend time with them without resentment, fear, and judgement. Why? Where is MY heart?

….

The more we grow, the better vessels we can be. The better we can be the lamp in the dark. The better we can live as an example instead of always pointing fingers, blaming each other, judging each other, and condemning each other… We can love each other closer to HIM who LOVES more than we can ever fully understand.

Not a single one of us deserves this kind of love. Not a single one of us deserves grace and mercy. We can try all we want and still “miss the mark” so we need to remember we’re no better than the next. Love wins. He sacrificed Himself to overcome the world. Love already won. Period.

Jesus explained to us that we should be more focused on the plank in our own eye than the speck in someone else’s. We do this to stop ourselves from spending all of our energy focused on the things we can’t control because the only thing we can control is our own choices. So, when we focus on our own feelings, thoughts, and habits, we have an opportunity to be better vessles for God. We can love better. We can be a better representation for God’s love, mercy, and goodness. We can’t spend our lives blaming everyone and everything else.
